Education Service Volunteers

Giving your time to help the Thames Chase Education Service is highly rewarding and a great deal of fun. Help is needed with school groups during term-time, evening youth groups and holiday playscheme events. Helping children to get the most out of the countryside can be immensly satisfying, but don't take our word for it, read the testamonial from one of our education volunteers below.

"After retirement I was kept busy caring for grandchildren and returning for short periods to my schools. I had taught pupils from ages seven to sixteen.

I most enjoy being active so an article in the local resident’s bulletin caught my eye, “Help needed at Thames Chase”. My interests throughout my life have been in the natural environment and this was near home.

Contact with children who are enjoying time out of school looking for minibeasts or dipping in the ponds is fun.  Even if I don’t know what we’ve found we can find out together.

My commitment is flexible; I keep in touch with the Education Project Assistant and fit days into my diary as required. So I get exercise, fresh air and social contact, all of which fit in with my experience and interests. Couldn’t be better!"

Anne Gutteridge, Thames Chase Education Volunteer.

Experience of working with children previously is not essential, but you will need to have a CRB check if you would like to help us in this way. Click here to download the Education volunteer role profile which gives more specific details about what would be involved. If you are interested in helping us, please contact the Education Project Assistant either by email or telephone on 01708 642969.
