A whole cavalcade of history has paraded across this area over the millennia - either east/west along the ancient Roman Road or via that great highway of the river Thames, diverted here during the Ice Ages; or north/south via the river valleys along prehistoric trade and medieval pilgrimage routes.

Thames Chase Community Forest lies at the heart of the area, stretching out along a network of footpaths, cycle and bridleways which, alongside local people, it is working to open, expand and link up for you to explore.

You can take a quick glimpse of history by opening these pages, and find out even more by exploring the links to other organisations, or actually by going out into the countryside and exploring that new network of trails from the Forest Centre to see surviving examples of history here for yourself.

Enjoy!
