Conservation Work

Taking part in conversation volunteering work is very rewarding. Organised groups work throughout Thames Chase to improve the conservation value and access facilities on sites, for the benefit of both people and wildlife. Conservation volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, working alongside a range of like-minded people. And at the same time you get plenty of exercise and healthy fresh air – it certainly beats a session in the gym! Typical activities can include tree and hedge planting, fencing, step building, hedge laying and pond maintenance.

The Thames Chase Conservation Volunteers is a weekly volunteering group that operates from the Thames Chase Forest Centre, near Upminster. They meet at 10am on Thursdays and finish around 3.30pm. There are occasional weekend tasks as well.

For more information, or to join the group, please contact the Thames Chase Community and Conservation Project Assistant by
email or phone on 01708 641880, or come along to the Forest Centre on a Thursday morning. Click here to download the Conservation Volunteer role profile which provides more detail as to what the voluntary position entails.
