About the performers
Dorian Ford
Dorian Ford started playing jazz in his early teens when he began regular attendance at a weekly workshop led by trumpeter, composer, broadcaster and music writer Ian Carr.Playing alongside many musicians who went on to form the backbone of the London jazz renaissance of the 1980's, he won a scholarship to Berklee College of Music where he received the prestigious Chick Corea Jazz Masters Award. Piano studies were with Donald Brown, a regular in Art Blakey's band at the time.
Dominic Ashworth
Dominic Ashworth was born in Hamiliton, Ontario Canada. He studied guitar at the University of Toronto, Canada with Eli Kassner and performed in the University Big Band directed by Phil Nimmons. Graduating in 1982, he performed at the Havana Guitar Festival Cuba, and studied under scholarship in Spain. Dominic has toured and recorded with Carol Kidd, Michael Garrick, Julian Marc Stringle and Digby Fairweather's Half Dozen with George Melly and recently Paul Jones.
He recorded a CD "Portraits" with his acoustic trio in 2004 for Chugnut records and a CD entitled "Between Ourselves" for MCS records in 2005. In 2006 he was awarded the Jazz Guitarist of the year at the Birmingham Jazz awards. He’s now based in Greenwich with his wife and two daughters. He teaches guitar at Trinity College of Music. His musical inspiration includes J.S. Bach, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Paco de Lucia and George Benson
