The Thames Chase Community Tree Nursery

The Woodlands of tomorrow are growing behind the Thames Chase office.  The Thames Chase Community Tree Nursery is bursting with saplings of a wide range of native tree species, all grown from locally sourced seed, and lovingly tended by dedicated Thames Chase volunteers; and it needs your support.  You can help in two ways; by donating any spare pots that you might have lying around (2 or 3 litre are the ideal size) and by purchasing stock to plant in your garden or to give as a gift.  Income will go toward the upkeep of the nursery and so ensure that there is local native stock available for any new planting in the future.

By planting native and locally grown species, you will be helping to reduce transport emissions, but you will also be helping to protect the ecological relationships between the trees and numerous other organisms that make up the food web.  Prices for ready-to-plant saplings start at just 90p, and we currently have plenty of oak, ash, hazel, holly, field maple, wild service tree, wild cherry, willow, hawthorn, hornbeam, blackthorn, crab apple and many others, perfect for planting as stand- alone trees, as a hedge or to create your very own woodland!  Please contact us (details are on the home page) or ask a member of staff or volunteer in the Forest Centre for more details.
