Thurrock Museum is a local history Museum, located in Grays, that focuses on the local heritage of the historic area of Thurrock. The museum is operated by Thurrock Council and has a large collection of objects ranging from archaeology to modern social history, archives and records and local authority archives. It operates a Service level provision with Essex Records Office. The Museum holds the photographic collections of the local newspaper and publishes weekly reports in two local newspapers and on a local radio show.
The museum has a public gallery with over 1500 objects and temporary displays. As well as storing and caring for the collection, the Museum also operates a number of services including public enquiries relating to Thurrock’s history, educational visits and tours to the gallery for any audience, as well as giving talks/lectures to groups such as schools or organisations.
