Rainham

This Area has been extensively exploited for mineral extraction. Former mineral sites have a variety of uses including low-grade grazing, public reacreational land or alternativelt they remain derelict.

Where restoration has been partially completed before abandonment, some areas are regenerating naturally and often form important local wildlife habitats.

MIxed farming occurs on undisturbed land with market gardening on the better quality land. The field pattern is characteristically medium to large scale with straight hedge-lined boundaries and few mature hedgerow trees. The area has lost many of its original field boundaries.
