The Old Chapel was built in 1800 by Protestant Dissenters. Along with Upminster Windmill, it is a rare survival from the early nineteenth century in Upminster.
After receiving a Heritage Lottery Grant in 2011, the Old Chapel was extensively restored, saving the building for future generations. The owners, Sacred Heart of Mary Girls' School, use the building on a regular basis but the building is also used by the local community.
There are open weekends from April-October alongside regular events and talks. The Old Chapel is also available for school visits and as a hire venue. Visit the website for more information.
