Thames Chase Conservation Volunteers (the TCCV)

The Thames Chase Conservation Volunteers are a great mixed team that give their time and hard work to spend one or two days per week working on conservation projects for the Thames Chase Trust.

They have a broad range of skills and work very well as a team to achieve the best results as well as enjoying themselves doing it.

Over the years they have carried out all manner of project and evidence of this work can be seen all over the Thames Chase Community Forest (from Brentwood and Ockendon through Havering and into Barking and Dagenham) including the planting of thousands of trees, miles of footpaths cleared and waymarked, footbridges repaired, boardwalks created, a large amount of wildlife habitat creation, pond clearance & new planting, hedgelaying, woodland management, invasive species control, rubbish clearance and a great deal of other work which benefits all locals and visitors to the area (both human and non-human!).

The TCCV also works with local schools and day centres to construct and create raised beds, planters, polytunnels, wildflower gardens, planting, ponds, minbeast hotels, etc and are very keen to get involved with similar projects.

The group is available for hire at very reasonable rates. Please contact Conservation Volunteer Team Leader Becky Gibson by email or on 01708 642965 to discuss any project you may wish us to carry out for you.

We also provide poles and logs, coppiced from the sustainable sources here at Broadfields, for sale (logs can be purchased by the box directly from the Visitor Centre). The large picnic benches you see around the Visitor Centre are also avaliable made to order.

If you are interested in joining the TCCV please see the 'Thames Chase Volunteers' main page.
